Throughout the year, we recruit parents and other individuals to support athletic events by working in the concession stands.  Without your help, the concessions simply wouldn’t be able to function.  This winter sports season, the boosters are unveiling a new system of working in the concessions and need your help to make it happen.  We will be asking each family to work one or two events throughout the season for the sport in which your child participates.  Don’t worry; the schedules are set up so that you are not working when your child is playing his/her event. The new system will be as follows:

At least two sets of workers will be asked to support each event.

The first set of people would open the concessions.  These “Openers” will be asked to arrive 30 minutes prior to the start of the event.  This gives them time to make popcorn, hot dogs, or any other item that may need advanced preparation before the event begins.  At the end of the event, the openers will be free to go.
The second set of workers may arrive at the time the event starts, but will be asked to stay approximately 30 minutes after the event closes.  As the event ends, concessions are stopped, and the closers will need to clean any utensils used, put away cold items, clean the popcorn machine, and sweep the floor.

It is our goal to always have a member of the boosters stop by and check-in with the workers, but if a booster member is not available, you may always find and ask Eric Talsma or BJ Nykamp your question.  There will be a set of detailed instructions that describes how to open and close the concession stand.  Also included will be a contact list of booster members you can call if needed.

The most important part of your job as a concession stand worker is to make sure you show up on time.  If something should change with your schedule and you cannot work, it is your responsibility to find a dependable replacement to take care of your duties for the event.

Please keep in mind that the concession stand provides a service to players, their families, and all other friends or students who come to show their support for the school.  Concession sales are used to support all sports at the High School and Middle School.
